    Postpartum Depression

On December 19, 2007, 7 weeks after giving birth to a baby boy named Graham Gibbs Bankston, Becky's twins sister, Jenny, took her sons life and then her own.  Doctors suspect that Jenny suffered from Postpartum Psychosis.
Unfortunately, Jenny was never officially diagnosed or treated for PPD.  Like most recent mothers, the signs and symptoms that Jenny exhibited seemed typical of a new mom - struggles with nursing, lacking sleep and adjusting to no longer working. In fact, most who suffer from PPD do not report their feelings and symptoms because they are ashamed of the way they feel.

Becky Lavelle shared her twin sisters story in order to help educate others about Postpartum Depression (PPD).

Growing Up Gay - Barry Phillips

When you grow up with no father, four brothers, and no sense of direction to be a man its hard to even consider the reality that you may be gay. What will they think, will you be accepted, will you survive? I left high school to attend college three states away and this is where life would change. A girlfriend of 5 years was washed away in a few months and the experimentation began. Denial also loomed as I went into therapy for suicidal thoughts due to self-acceptance and personal image. As a college soccer athlete it was even worse to hide something so frustrating from twenty-six other young men. One by one, I informed them of my life and everyone accepted it – we even had a team bonding experience at the club which was as many called it "the best time out."

My biggest fear was yet to come with my family. On the eve of my flight to Europe for 6 months I brought my current boyfriend home and said, “Hi, this is my  boyfriend”.  The next day I boarded a plane…
