Where is Parker from? When she is on-air I hear a bit of an accent. Is she from Boston ?
Parker is originally from Long Island, New York where she was born and raised. She came to the DC Metro area for college where she received an undergraduate and Master degree. Since remaining in the area Parker’s accent has become confused as she still drops off her R’s, exaggerates her W’s, yet sometimes says “ya’ll”. No she is not a gangster, her father is not in the mob, and she does not have a summer house in the Hampton's.
Parker is on-air once a week? Does she have a “real” job?
Yes of course. Like most in the media industry, one job is never enough. Parker is someone “very important” 8 – 5. In the evenings during winter she also coaches a high school gymnastics team as well as writes for mindsay.com.
I would like to contact someone you interviewed on Talk of The Town – how can I get their information?
Typically you can find out more about guests on parkersunshine.com. If you cannot find the information on the website email: onair@parkersunshine.com. We will do our best to put you in contact with that individual.
Can I call into the studio to argue, comment, or ask Parker a question?
Yes you can. The number is 703-560-TALK
How many people listen to Talk of The Town?
Well there is no real way of telling as the station does not have an audience measurement system. Fairfax Public Access (FPA) is unique as it uses cable channels and the Internet to air radio programs. What we do know is that FPA cablecasts the WEBR radio station through Cox, Comcast, and now Verizon in the Northern Virginia area reaching 250,000+ potential listeners. WEBR radio programs are also streamlined and can be heard LIVE through the webcast by clicking here.
In Northern Virginia you can hear the show on these channels: (Arlington County, Falls Church, Fairfax County, Loudon County and Leesburg): Verizon Fios TV Channel 37
Fairfax County: Cox Channel (Non-Digital) 7 or Digital 37
Reston: Comcast channel 27
And on-line around the world at www.fcac.org/webr
How do I become part of Parker Sunshine’s network?
Parker’s network is growing – it consists of vendors that support parkersunshine.com and inadvertently help make Talk of The Town successful through sponsorship, advertising, and promotional support. Contact Parker to find out how to join her network by emailing: onair@parkersunshine.com
I want to intern or volunteer for Talk of The Town.
Great! Parker is always looking for individuals interested in media, radio, and entertainment to help her show continue to be successful while maintaining, updating, and advertising parkersunshine.com.
Parker needs people to help think of segment ideas, book guests, write blurbs, post photos, and develop video for her website. Parker also can always use the help of graphic designers who can develop and update promotional material.
Interested in getting involved in a radio show? Want to see if perhaps this is a career for you? Email onair@parkersunshine.com to discuss opportunities available now.
*All positions are unpaid.
